About Dr Yee Kok Meng
Dr. Yee Kok Meng is a Senior Consultant Cardiologist with a special interest in Interventional Cardiology. He joined Pantai Hospital KL in 2005, and has over 20yrs of clinical experience as an interventional cardiologist.
Dr. Yee obtained his degree in Internal Medicine at the University of Edinburgh, UK in 1993. He trained and specialized in Cardiology at the internationally renowned Papworth Heart Center at Cambridge University, UK. He subsequently moved to Toronto, Canada in 2001 where he completed a Fellowship in Interventional Cardiology at the University of Toronto. Based at the Toronto General Hospital, which is the highest-volume tertiary cardiac center in Canada, Dr Yee gained a vast experience in all aspects of interventional cardiology procedures. He subsequently returned to Malaysia in 2002.
Dr. Yee has contributed significantly to the field of cardiology and has published widely in respected scientific journals such as Circulation, Journal of American College Cardiology and the European Heart Journal. His research area of interests includes small vessel stenting, chronic total occlusions, percutaneous interventions in diabetics, intravascular ultrasound, aldosterone and autonomic tone in heart failure. In 2002, the University of Edinburgh awarded Dr. Yee the postgraduate MD doctorate in Cardiology with distinction.
Dr. Yee has vast experience in a wide range of interventional procedures and performs most of his cases via the transradial route. He is also experienced with the use of various adjunctive devices and therapies such as rotational atherectomy, intravascular ultrasound (IVUS), OCT and coronary doppler wire (Pressure Wire). He has a keen interest in complex angioplasty and is experienced with niche therapeutic procedures such as renal artery denervation and intracoronary stem cell therapies.
